LIMA, Peru, August 19, 2018 – Gaila Gonzalez, the left-handed opposite hitter of the now four-time champions Dominican Republic was named the Most Valuable Player of the U23 Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup on Sunday night at Manuel Bonilla Coliseum of Miraflores.

Gonzalez took home also the award as best opposite while teammates Vielka Peralta and Jineiry Martinez earned the recognition as First Outside Hitter and First Middle Blocker, respectively. Colombia’s Valerin Carabalí was named the Second Middle Blocker.

Peru’s claimed a lion-share in the awards ceremony as their players took five recognition plaques led by Brenda Lobaton who was named Second Outside Hitter and Best Receiver.

Also Shiamara Almeida was elected the Best Setter and Esmeralda Sanchez was the Best Digger and Best Libero.

Mexico’s Uxue Guereca completed the list of awardees as the best scorer.
